CNN —Israel has claimed responsibility for an attack on an ambulance outside Gaza City’s Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest medical facility in the enclave, which witnesses say killed and wounded dozens of people. Israel said it had targeted the ambulance because it was being used by Hamas, according to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). A spokesperson for the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, who was at Al-Shifa Hospital, said that Israel was responsible for the attack. CNN —The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is “expanding ground operations” in the Gaza Strip, IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari announced Friday, as intense airstrikes rocked the besieged enclave and with communications links reportedly severed. Gaza residents told CNN the strikes were the most intense they have experienced since Israel began to retaliate against Hamas’ October 7 terror attack nearly three weeks ago. A huge wall of heavy smoke that lasted 15 to 30 minutes also blew from Gaza into southern Israel earlier Friday evening. “We have, of course, certainly seen Israel undertake varied operations on the ground in the last couple of days,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters Friday. He also declined to say if the Biden administration has confidence that Israel has fully considered the ramifications of a ground incursion.

CNN —Al Jazeera said its bureau chief in Gaza, Wael Al Dahdouh, lost his wife, son, daughter, and grandson in what it said was an Israeli airstrike on Wednesday. “Members of the family of our colleague Wael Al Dahdouh, including his wife, son, and daughter, were martyred in an Israeli bombing,” Al Jazeera wrote in an on-air message. An emotional Al Dahdouh was seen in a video crying as he stood over his son’s body, wrapped in a white sheet. His son Mahmoud was 15 years old, and his daughter Sham was seven years old, Al Jazeera reported. Al Jazeera anchor Abdisalam Farah announced the deaths on air, visibly struggling to keep his composure and tearing up.

CNN —A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police detective investigating the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur testified before a grand jury in September that detectives had a theory that his murder and the murder of rapper Biggie Smalls may have been related. As part of the grand jury testimony, Mogg read sections of Davis’ book “Compton Street Legend” to illustrate his description of him participating in a gang and to share the details therein about the events surrounding Shakur’s death. Shakur was shot four times and died six days later. Shakur died in September 1996 in Las Vegas. Smalls, born Christopher Wallace, was also shot and killed in a drive-by shooting, in March 1997 in Los Angeles.

CNN —San Francisco Police have made an arrest in the murder of Cash App founder Bob Lee, according to a tweet from San Francisco Board of Supervisors member Matt Dorsey. CNN has reached out to San Francisco Police and the Mayor’s office for comment. Lee was stabbed to death in Rincon Hill neighborhood of San Francisco early in the morning of April 4th. Many in the tech world and beyond responded to news of Lee’s death with an outpouring of shock and grief. Lee was the former chief technology officer of Square who helped launch Cash App.
